From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers parties.
Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
